: a fungal disease that is peculiar to oats which have Victoria variety in their parentage, is caused by a fungus (Helminthosporium victoriae), and is characterized by seed and root rot, seedling stunt, and orange or orange-brown streaking especially of the leaf margins and blackening and breaking at the nodes
