Middle English bausand, bauson "piebald (of a horse)," borrowed from Anglo-French bauçcan, bausent, balçan (continental Old French bausan, baucent, baucenz), probably borrowed (with alteration of suffix) from Old Occitan bausan, perhaps going back to Gallo-Romance *balteānus, literally, "belted," from Latin balteus "band, belt" + -ānus -an entry 2
