Note: Earlier in the senses "anatomy of the nerves, description of the nervous system," probably taken from the neo-Greek coinage neurología (in the genitive neurologías), introduced by the English physician Thomas Willis (1621-75) in Cerebri anatome, cui accessit nervorum descriptio et usus (London, 1664), p. 235.
