Consumer Product Safety Act(CPSA)

15 U.S.C. § 2051 et seq.  | (1972)
created the Consumer Product Safety Commission, empowered to promulgate safety standards for consumer products as well as to do research and maintain information on consumer products. The commission also created penalties for violations of safety standards. The Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA), 122 Stat. 3016 (2008), amended CPSA to provide the Consumer Product Safety Commission with more regulatory and enforcement tools.
