drug-free zone

noun

: a statutorily designated area or place (as a public park or beach or a school bus) within which the distribution of or possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance is an aggravated felony
especially : such an area including and extending outward usually 1000 feet from the real property of a public or private school
it is irrelevant whether a person is aware that he or she is carrying on the prohibited drug activity in a drug-free zone State v. Silva-Baltazar, 886 P.2d 138 (1994)
